HUNDREDS of past pupils of St Teresa's NS in Kilflynn will return to the classroom on Sunday June 3 when the school celebrates its centenary in elaborate style.
Organisers have sent out over 750 invitations to past pupils near and far, and most are expected to attend. but there's also an open invitation to anyone who has ever attended the Kilflynn school.
The festivities kick off on Sunday afternoon with mass at the local church in memory of deceased pupils and teachers, followed by the launch of a booklet on 100 years of education at St Teresa's. The afternoon will feature entertainment by the current pupils as well as recorded interviews with some of the school's oldest past pupils, including John Neenan who will celebrate his 100th birthday on July 1. As well as celebrating the history of St Teresa's NS, the event is also being organised to raise funds for a new astro turf pitch for the school.
The next meeting of organisers is at the school this Wednesday night, May 9, at 8.30pm and anyone interested in helping out is invited to come along and share their ideas.
