THIS will be a year of many 'Gatherings' and the village of Asdee won't be left out as a number of locals have come together to plan the Asdee Primary School Reunion to bring old schoolpals together again over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The committee consists of Chairperson Jerdy O'Carroll, PRO Mary Nagle, Treasurer Maureen O'Connor, and Media Specialists Jim Quinn and Donie O'Keeffe. Together, they are planning a variety of social, sporting, and educational activities. The opening ceremony of the event will take place in Asdee Community Centre on Friday, August 2.

"We'll have a celebrity launching the event, along with music and much more at the main Gathering night on Friday. Plus we'll have a media room in the community centre that will feature old video footage of Asdee which dates back to the 1960s, as well as an exhibition of lots of old photographs relating to the village and the school", Jim Quinn said.

"Everyone is welcome, and we are particularly inviting those who had any association with the school over the past 90odd years to return for the weekend as it's sure to be an unmissable event. Hopefully, everyone who reads this can pass on the message to anyone who may be interested", Mr Quinn said.
