RENOWNED chef Mark Doe is to lend his support to the Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue team by hosting a fundraising food demonstration and tasting evening in the seaside town at the end of the month.
Organised to raise funds for the continued vital work of the local rescue unit, the event will take place at Ballybunion's Cliff House Hotel on Saturday night, September 29.
The night kicks off at 8pm with a display of local food produce from a variety of local vendors, before Mark takes to the stage for the main event.
The Firies-based chef will prepare a starter, main course and dessert, with lucky audience members being invited to taste the delights on offer.
For just €10, guests will enjoy the two hour cookery and tasting session and will also be entered for the main door prize. A fundraising raffle will also take place throughout the night for a variety of other great spot prizes.
"This has been a particularly bad year financially, not only for us, but for many charities so we wanted to come up with an alternative event to raise money for the service," explained PRO of Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue, Omar Fitzell.
"This event is happening the week after Listowel Races so we're hoping it might attract all those who were working during the races."
Tickets for the upcoming event are available from Cliff House (068 27777) or from Grace Flahive on 086 0648035
