Ailbhe takes 'Run and Jump' into our cinemas
THE work of Tralee screenwriter Ailbhe Keogan will be seen in cinemas around the country from this Friday with the nationwide release of her debut feature film 'Run and Jump'.
The film, which was written by Ailbhe and Steph Green, was filmed in Wicklow and Kerry and tells the tale of an American doctor who travels to Ireland to study a family whose father suffered personality changing stroke leaving his wife to run the household.
The film, which has been screened at several festivals, has received rave reviews from critics and is now going on release in 15 Irish cinemas across Ireland from this Friday, May 2. The film then will go on general release in the UK from May 23.
Mum of two Ailbhe said she is delighted the film is receiving such positive attention.
"We are so chuffed," she said. "As much as you want critics to give your film a good review what you really want is for the public to see it and enjoy it in the cinema."
"It has already been screened at festivals and audiences have really enjoyed it. We had a special screening of the film at Siamsa Tíre during the Kerry film festival which was an amazing success and it really encouraged us," she said.
Ailbhe isn't resting on her laurels and she already has a number of other projects in the works including a comedy movie with British comedy star Sharon Horgan, a political thriller set in Western Sahara, a second feature film with her writing partner Steph Green and a short film which will be filmed as part of the Young Irish Filmmakers youth film training programme.
