RADIO Kerry's general manager, Fiona Stack, was honoured for her contribution to Irish radio at the national PPI awards at the weekend where she received the prestigious 'Outstanding Achievement in Irish Radio' award.
Fiona now joins an elite and illustrious group of recipients, including Gay Byrne, Marian Finucane, Larry Gogan, Micheal O Muircheartaigh, Des Whelan, Jimmy Magee and Mario Rosenstock.
A stunned Fiona had not been made aware of her award before Friday night's ceremony, and only realised she was being honoured as she watched a series of video tributes from Sean Moncrieff, Jerry Kennelly, Paul Galvin, Paul Byrne and her parents.
A humbled Fiona told the 900 radio professionals present that she was 'gob smacked' at receiving the award and dedicated it to 'Radio Kerry and everything it stands for, both in the industry and in Kerry.'
The PPI Radio Outstanding Achievement award is presented in recognition of the achievements of an individual working in radio in any capacity over a period of time. Submissions are invited by the PPI Radio Awards committee who then select the winner.
Fiona's impressive win wasn't the the only success for Radio Kerry on Friday night, with the station also picking up two silver and three bronze awards.
