OVER 100 Abbeyfeale natives gathered at London's Chiswick Catholic Club on Saturday night last to celebrate the annual Abbeyfeale & District Association London's annual reunion.
The association was set up in 1965 when a local parish priest set about creating a newsletter for all those who had moved to London from Abbeyfeale.
Since then the association has been holding an annual reunion, which not only attracts Abbeyfeale natives living in London, but also those who still live in the West Limerick town who fancy catching up with old friends who have moved away.
Saturday night's event was another huge success, according to association secretary Jiulie Nolan, with several new faces popping along this year
"It was great to see all the regular faces and lots of new one too," she told The Kerryman. "We would like to say a big thanks to everyone who came along on the night."
Joan explained that the organising committee was able to make donations on the night to Sean Broderick, New Street Abbeyfeale, who attends every year of behalf of the Legion of Mary and also to James Byard-Hunt (Little heroes) in aid of Teresa Griffiths nee Stack of the square Abbeyfeale who passed away earlier this year and was an active member of the association.
The association will hold its AGM on Saturday, October 27 at 4 pm at the Chiswick Catholic Club, Dukes Ave , Chiswick W4 2AE.
