SUCH was the success of Saturday night's fundraising food demo and tasting event in Ballybunion's Cliff House Hotel, that organisers and beneficiaries - Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue - have pledged to make it an annual event.
Renowned chef Mark Doe - who runs a cookery school in Firies - hosted the event, sharing his top tips with the 150 guests. The capacity crowd were shown how to prepare a selection of starters, main courses and desserts and with 30 spot prizes on offer during the night, as well as some carefully hidden prizes, many went home extremely happy.
"This was the first time we have run such an event and we weren't too sure what to expect but the reaction from the audience was fantastic," a spokesperson for Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue said afterwards. "It was obvious from the countless people who thanked us that it was a huge success. The night raised much needed funds for the service and it is sure to be an event we will host annually."
