THE 36th edition is nearly upon us and this year's Three Brothers Golf Tournament promises to be as competitive as ever.

Hosted by Kenmare Golf Club, its one of the golfing world's truly unique events and attracts comp-editors from across Ireland, Europe and the US. This year's edition tees off this Friday and Saturday, September 13-14.

Brainchild of Kenmare native Frank O'Connor who had a successful legal career in the US. With many Kenmare families spread across the globe, Frank felt the tournament was the perfect way for families to meet up on an annual basis.

The first ever tournament in 1978 attracted 15 teams and that has since grown substantially with the limit currently capped on 60 teams. Indeed, the waiting list continues to grow year on year and so bookings are advisable over a year in advance with competitors travelling from far and wide to compete on the Eddie Hackett designed course.

Meanwhile, Lee Strand and Heineken remain strong sponsors of the event.
