THE Kerry Friends of Motor Neurone last week presented an impressive cheque for €18,000 to Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association Development Officer Marie Reavey.
The sum was the proceeds of various fundraising activities in the greater Killarney area throughout the year. These included flag days at Killarney Races and in Killarney town centre, various donations and a Family Fun Day held at Darby O'Gill's, where the cheque was presented on Thursday last.
"We are eternally grateful to each and every person who supported us," Kerry Friends of Motor Neurone Chairman, Christy Lehane, stated.
"There are so many people living with Motor Neurone presently and we are happy that this money will, in some way, make their lives easier. While the cash is hugely welcome the need to raise publicity about the condition is equally as important," Christy continued
"We had a number of committee members and families of Motor Neurone sufferers at the presentation and were especially honoured with the attendance of Patrick Carmody," the local chairman added.
