WEST KERRY'S Rugbaí Chorca Dhuibhne celebrated an epic start to the season recently as their under-11s beat St. Senan's RFC in the heartland of Munster rugby, Limerick's Thomand Park. The match took place in the half time interval as Munster took on Zebre in the Rabodirect Pro12 League.

"The lads showed great skill and flair and showed that West Kerry is alive when it comes to rugby," said the club's development officer, Shane O'Rourke.

The West Kerry rugby club are also celebrating the news that Briain Ó Murchú from Ventry has been selected for the Munster U18s club squad.

"Briain has been involved with the West Munster Regional Development Squad for the past two years and has excelled since joining the squad," Shane said. "To be selected for this squad is a massive honour and a real credit to Briain, his family, coaches and all the players in Rugbaí Chorca Dhuibhne."

The RCD U-13s and U-15s enjoyed positive starts to their campaigns with players such as Conor Flannery, Sean O Lúing and Shane O'Conner showing good form in particular. In addition, the U-17s who have recently amalgamated with Castleisland, have enjoyed a good showing.

However, according to Shane players are urgently needed for the under-19 squad so new recruits would be more than welcome. For more information on training times contact 085-6061206.
