FOLLOWING on from the successful results achieved by last year's students, Speech and Drama classes are recommencing in early November in the Castleisland Area under the direction of Maggie Prendiville in affiliation with the Leinster School of Music and Drama.
These classes foster self-confidence and clarity of speech in children, promote free expression of children's imaginations and creativity and enable confident and articulate expression.
Speech & Drama classes aim to build students' confidence and self esteem through drama, to promote an enjoyment of language in all its forms, to produce students who are vocally and physically expressive, whose speech is clear, colourful and individual, to help each student's personal development and ability to communicate with sensitivity, to build command of standard English and the language needed to support it, to instil an understanding of communication as a two-way process and promote and foster an enjoyment of reading.
"Activities in our Speech & Drama classes include: sharing and presenting news, information and ideas; physical, vocal and mental warm-ups; story, book and poem sharing; language dynamics; voice, speech and pronunciation exercises; exploring poetry; communication skills and creative drama and improvisation," said Ms. Prendiville.
Interested parents can contact Ms. Maggie Prendiville M.A., A.D.L.S.M.D. on (086) 0527166 to secure a place for their child in the classes. Ms Prendiville has studied Speech and Drama with the Leinster School of Music and Drama.
