Tarbert gets set for family gathering

Published 12/06/2013 | 05:36

TARBERT is calling home its children ahead of a massive weekend in August when the town will celebrate its very own Gathering event - the Tarbert Family Gathering Festival.

"There's great excitement in Tarbert these days as we look forward to the Family Gathering Festival," organiser Mary Carrig said. "Under the leadership of a steering group which has been meeting since January, a great spirit of co-operation has emerged between parish organisations, committees and individuals to put together an excellent programme of varied family events," Mary explained.

First up is the launch this Saturday night, June 15, where Tarbert Kerry footballer Shane Enright and parish priest Fr Danny Broderick will officially launch the festival. That will take place at Tarbert Community Centre on Saturday at 8.15pm, with refreshments on hand and an array of young talent set to perform songs and music for everyone.

"The launch promises to be a great night and we urge everyone to come along and enjoy the craic!"
