Tarbert Development Association (TDA) invites you to join with them on Sunday next October 28 at 4pm. to celebrate the completion of the Russell Wall restoration project. The project, which has been in gestation for over three years now, will be completed this week when twelve low relief bronze plaques will be inserted into the recesses already prepared for them in the 12 windows on the southern wall of this historic building. The content of the inserts will be simple, yet imaginative and creative, so as to adequately communicate the rich heritage of the area to the local community and to visitors. The inaugural address on Sunday will be given by Professor John Coolahan who acted as consultant and adviser for the historical element of this project. TDA were delighted when the contract for the artistic element and the bronze casting of this assignment was won by Liam Lavery and his wife Eithne Ring. Liam's father was the late Bill Lavery, formerly of Church Street, Tarbert. We, in TDA, are confident that these plaques will serve as an important historical record of Tarbert's development from the coming of Christianity to the present time.
The first Tidy Towns meeting of 2012 - 2013 was held on Wednesday October 17. The members present were very pleased with the increase of 11 points and the favourable comments of the adjudicator in the 2012 competition. Under general impression the adjudicator wrote - Tarbert is a lovely destination with a strong regional and national profile and has much to offer its own community, visitors and the travelling public.
