THERE'S still plenty of time to register for the inagural Tournafulla 5km Road Race and Non-Competitive Walk, which is due to take place on Easter Sunday.
The event is being organised to raise funds for the cystic fibrosis charity TLC4CF and the Limerick Dialysis Unit, and has already sparked huge interest for walkers and runners across the country.
This event has been designed to suit all levels of athletes, from serious road runners to non-competitive fun runners and walkers, with prizes awarded to the first, second and third male and female over the line, as well as the first over 40 and 50 and first under 18. The 5km route will commence on the main road in Tournafulla, going via the junction for Mountcollins, and back to the village.
Entry to the race is €10 for runners and €5 for walkers, with funds being divided between TLC4CF and the Limerick Dialysis Unit in Limerick Regional Hospital.
TLC4CF was founded by friends and family of people with CF in Tipperary, Limerick and Clare and is dedicated to improving services for people with cystic fibrosis, including a specialised unit which is currently under construction at Limerick's Mid Western Regional Hospital. The Limerick Dialysis Unit in the hospital, meanwhile, provides treatment and care for patients with kidney problems and failure on a daily basis.
Anyone interested in taking part in the run can log onto www.tournafulla5k.com to register, while walkers are asked to register on the day between 11.30 until 12.45.
