Selena launches her CD

Selena O’Connell is launching her first CD this Friday night in the Old Oratory, Cahersiveen

WINNING last year's Talent of Iveragh competition has certainly paid dividends for Dromid woman Selena O'Connell as the singer will launch her new CD this Friday night, August 29, in the Old Oratory in Cahersiveen.

Selena has been involved with choirs in school and in college, as well several school musical productions and she's no stranger to competitions having also competed in Scór and the Kerry Young Musician of The Year. In winning the Talent of Iveragh she picked up the Pádraig Dineen Perpetual Trophy along with cash but it was a third prize that has ultimately helped fulfil her dream of releasing a CD.

"I was fortunate enough to win the competition as a solo performer with vocals and guitar accompaniment and the prize included studio recording which has allowed me to record and produce this EP," Selena states, adding: "I am extremely thankful to those involved in Teacht Thar Sáile Folk club for this opportunity".

A psychology student, Selena plays guitar and fiddle and enjoys listening and playing in a variety of genres. On Friday night she be will performing alongside other special guests including Andrew 'Skatz' Scattergood and Ardú.

It all kicks off at 8.30pm and all are welcome to what promises to be a great of night of music and entertainment.
