Students from the town's three secondary schools - Presentation, St Michael's and the Community College - came together as one for the big night of the Listowel Debs in Tralee's Brandon Hotel on Wednesday.

It was out with the school uniforms and into something far more glamorous outfits for a night each of the 200 plus students will remember forever.

"We had a fantastic night," Presentation Leaving Cert student organiser Clodagh Kinsella (from Moyvane) told The Kerryman. "It was our first time using Big Boss events to organise the night so we didn't really know what to expect initially, but they did a fantastic job. They plan the whole thing, work with the hotel and take all the stress out of the organising side of things".

Following the meal, they took to the dance floor under the turntables of DJ Paul Fitz, but it wasn't all about food and music. Ten awards for everything from Best Hair to the Listowel equivalent of King and Queen of the Prom were handed out, adding no end to the excitement.

"We also had a games area and there was a photo booth in place as well that really went down a storm!" Clodagh added.

At least one young man very nearly broke even on the night's expenditure - finding a €50 voucher that was hidden under his plate by Big Boss organisers as part of the fun and games!
