ALL town council parking will be free for the Races as the town plays host to a massive influx of punters from all over the region.
Some restrictions will apply, particularly to areas being set aside for street entertainment. The Town Council, meanwhile, urges all residents of the town to park in the backlanes where possible in a bid to free up as much parking space for visitors as possible.
"Free parking will apply in all town council car- parks for the seven days of the races," Listowel Town Clerk David O'Brien said.
"Traffic wardens will be on duty and any cars parking in illegal areas will be dealt with obviously, but we expect a pretty hassle- free week of it. There will be some restrictions in operation, on Market Street on the Wednesday and Thursday night for the street entertainment and all day Friday in the Square as the gig- rig is erected for the All- Ireland Wrenboys competition," David explained.
He urged residents of the town to park in backlanes where possible: "To provide more parking for visitors we would encourage residents to park in the back lanes, especially from Wednesday to Friday during the busiest days of the week."
