Parade hits all the right notes
CREATIVITY, colour and music was the theme in Killorglin on St Patrick's Day with parade participants, spectators and businesses encouraged to get musical and paint the town green for this year's festivities.
Erwin Kingston and the Killorglin parade organising committee had encouraged as many musical entries as possible in this year's parade as well as asking local businesses to decorate their premises in as much green as possible.
The result was a town centre covered top to bottom with festive colours and traditional and contemporary music filling the air as the parade made its way from its traditional starting point at the Fishery to its conclusion at Library Place. Given the musical theme, it was fitting that the Killorglin Pipe Band lead the parade.
After the parade, which involved over 40 floats and groups, there were further fun and games at Library Place, where the parade organisers had also laid on a range of family entertainment including bouncy castles and slides, face painters, a dancing exhibition and bands.
