THE following are just a taster of Bank Holiday events in Kerry this weekend:

Thursday May 30:

Listowel Writers' Week (May 29 – June 2) will celebrate the 42nd year of the internationally renowned festival by welcoming advanced and beginner writers to a dazzling line-up of events.

The last day of the touring Biggest Bon Voyage Card in the World Exhibition will take place in Derrynane. 300,000 people and 650 sheets of signatures later, the Chief Secretary of Ireland, Lord Morpeth, must have had a good send-off as he returned to England in 1841.

Valentia Remembers Her Past – A Gallery Exhibition (May 30 – June 3) reflects on life from the past century in stunning photographs from the island's residents and visitors.

Friday May 31:

Listowel Writers' Week (May 29 – June 2)

The seventh Ireland Bike Fest (May 31 – June 3) is to be held in Killarney and will provide fun and entertainment for all the family.

The inaugural KFest Killorglin Music and Arts Festival (May 31 – June 3), run as part of The Gathering, will welcome a selection of artists such as David Kitt, Twelve Angry Men, and Mojo GoGo..

Valentia Remembers Her Past – Gallery Exhibition (May 30 – June 3)

Blennerville Windmill Climb (May 31 – June 3) challenges parents and children to climb to the very top to learn about the windmill during the Famine era and grind their own wheat into flour.

Bernard Reynolds' Art Sale will give proceeds to the Saoirse Foundation, which supports children affected by the fatal Batten's disease.

The participants in the Kingdom Alliance Sportive Cycle, Tralee, (June 1 – June 3) will take in all the sights of Kerry in their cycling tour around the county.

Valentia Remembers Her Past – Gallery Exhibition (May 30 – June 3)

Siamsa Tíre Theatre in Tralee presents Oilean – Celebrating the Blasket Islands, National Folk Theatre of Ireland, at 8.30pm.

The Saoirse Foundation encourages everyone to attend the Free Family Fun Day for World Batten's Day in the Kerry Way Bar, Glenflesk, Killarney, 12pm – 7pm.

A historical trail and guided walk and talk will kick off the Kenmare Walking Weekend (June 1 – 3). It will start at the festival booth in the square and is free of charge.

Kerry County Museum Tours from 10am – 5pm (June 2 – 3) has many treats for kids, from the Tom Crean Room to the Medieval Experience to the Audio Visual Room.

Blennerville Windmill Climb (May 31 – June 3)

The National Folk Theatre of Ireland's Journey of Music, Dance and Song entitled 'Turas' will play at the Siamsa Tíre Theatre in Tralee tonight at 8.30pm.
