O'Keefe the special guest of honour

FOUNDER and CEO of MobileWebAdz, Kieran O'Keeffe, was special guest at the ISK annual awards ceremony on Friday night as the IT whizz returned to his former school to address parents, staff and students on the night.

A mentor on the Young Entrepreneur Programme, Kieran built his company into one of the most profitable mobile ad networks in the world, with clients currently in 55 countries and annual revenues coming in at €35m.

Therefore, the UCC graduate certainly knew what he was talking about when he highlighted the importance of perseverance in all aspects of life as he spoke of his time at the Killorglin school.

He also encouraged students to broaden their horizons by working abroad, for that important life experience and to enhance job prospects.

Meanwhile, there was the no small matter of awards to be handed out on the night with several interesting categories in addition to the traditional areas of academic and sporting achievement. These included 'School Spirit', presented to students who have demonstrated a positive attitude and commitment to all aspects of school life, the Gaisce President's Award and debating awards.

Also lauded were the fourth year business class who won Best Overall School at the Kerry County Enterprise Awards, as well as Robert Shaw, Darragh Carmody and Niall O'Connor who collected 'Best Innovative Idea 2013' for their defibrillator app.
