Rural Social Scheme - applications wanted from farmers/fishermen and women & community groups The applicant must be in receipt of Farm Assist or must have a herd or flock number and also be in receipt of one of the following: - Jobseekers Allowance or Jobseekers Benefit (if previously on a Community Employment Scheme - Disability Allowance or One-payment family payment - Widows, widower's or surviving civil partner's contributory pension or Widow's Widower's or surviving civil partner's contributory non-contributory pension We are also inviting applications from Community Groups who are interested in having suitable work carried out in their area especially inside work for the winter months. The type of work envisaged includes: - Waymarked ways, agreed walk and bog roads, Village & Tidy Towns, Community centres & Sporting Clubs, Community Administration/Clerical duties - Social care and care of the elderly, community care for both pre-school and after-school groups. The event will host a range of information stands on the programmes available by the company, and members of the public are welcome to come along and meet the staff and board at this event. North and East Kerry Development is local development company for the North and East of the county and is one of 52 local area groups (LAGs) in Ireland. North & East Kerry Development (NEKD) was established 1st January 2009 through an amalgamation of 4 local and rural development companies in the county. The company currently operates 14 different programmes to service the needs of the community in North and East Kerry. It has offices in Tralee, Castleisland and Listowel. It operates through funding from government agencies and departments, EU funds, as well as philanthropic donations. On the night, there will be information available from staff on the various programmes operated, which include supports for the unemployed, enterprise and tourism development, community and rural development, and social supports. Speaking about the event, Eamonn O Reilly, CEO, NEKD stated "we welcome individuals and community groups to come along on the night and see the work of NEKD and meet the staff.
