RESEARCHING your family history and registering major milestones has been made much easier in Ballyduff with the opening of a new Parish Office in the presbytery.
Already, it's attracting great interest as more and more people make use of the office to research their family's past, obtain signed Mass cards, register weddings and baptisms and much more.
It also marks a highpoint of parish life as it brings life back to the presbytery - located next to the church right in the centre of the village - for the first time since the parish priest's residence moved to neighbouring Causeway.
"It's getting a great response from everyone and it is now open from 10.30am to 1pm, from Tuesdays to Fridays allowing people a place to get Mass cards signed, notify us about weddings and baptisms and so on," Parish Priest Fr Brendan Walsh said.
"People are also delighted that it is bringing a bit of life back to the old presbytery. It has been empty since I moved permanently to the Causeway presbytery so people are happy to see it open again. It's also a great point of contact when it comes to researching family history and local events as we have all the parish records going back over the decades here," Fr Walsh added.
