THE Leaving Cert is looming in just six months time but the sixth year students of Tralee's Mercy Mounthawk put all thoughts of exams aside for one night over the weekend as they held their Debs Ball.
School uniforms made way for high style as around 130 young people attended the Mounthawk debs function which took place at the Ballyroe Hotel on Saturday night.
A distinct air of glamour surrounded the event as the young men and women enjoyed a night to remember dining in style at what will likely be the biggest social event of their year.
There was plenty of glitz and style on display as the students arrived for their big night out with the young men and women, all decked out in sharp, dapper tuxedos and stunning, flowing ball gowns, arriving in a constant stream from 7pm onwards.
While many were ferried to the event by parents and friends, a large number arrived in hired minibuses and at least one limo was spotted in the vicinity of the hotel as the young socialities arrived.
The hotel lobby and corridors were full for some time before the meal as colourful couples and groups posed for photographs. After that it was time for the banquet before the entertainment got underway and the debutants took to the floor, dancing their way well into the small hours.
