Lixnaw CCÉ: The Annual Lixnaw Féile Cheoil will take place on weekend 16th/17th in the Ceolann. On Sat 16th Step-dancing competitions, both open and confined will be held from 10am, Adjudicator: Maureen Farelly, adm: Adults 2eur, children 1eur, competitiors free. On the Sat night at 8.30 Conor Moriarty and friends will perform in what promises to be a concert not to be missed. Conor, an accordion player from Kilcummin in the heart of Sliabh Luachra, recently launched his debut album, 'All in a day's play'. On Sun 17th Instrumental Music and Trad Singing Competitions will be held in the Ceolann, entries taken from 12.30pm, adm: Adults 3eur, children 1eur. These will be both novice and open competitions from U9 up covering all instruments inc duets, trios and Grupaí Cheoil. Entry fee 2eur per person per competition. Tea/coffee and refreshments provided on the day.

INFORMATION evening for parents of Primary School Children The Parents Association of Scoil Mhuire gan Smál, Lixnaw are running a Parental Involvement information evening on Tuesday 12th June 2012 at 7.00pm in the Presentation Convent Hall, Lixnaw. The cost of the evening is being covered by the Parents Association so is free for parents to attend. The information evening is being facilitated by the National Parents Council and will cover aspects such as preparing your child for primary school, parental involvement both at home and at school, approach to homework, curriculum overview and much more. This evening promises to be of great benefit to parents with a child in primary school and is open to all parents of children who attend the girls and boys school in Lixnaw and to parents whose children will be starting school in Lixnaw in September. LIXNAW GOLF SOCIETY
Last Saturday the society went to laccabawn golf course in Killarney along with our friends from Dublin (Molly Malones).The course was in remarkable condition considering the dreadful weather we had.Lixnaw retained the trophy courtesy of a 166 pts to 161 pts win,Mike Quirke won the overall prize with a score of 35pts,2nd was G.Griffin on 34pts and M.Barry was 3rd on 31pts.The members comp was won by G.Hogan,2nd was P. Walshe and 3rd M.Kelliher.A great night was had by all in The Railway Bar,thanks to John and Frances for all their help.Finally a big thank you to The Molly Malones for coming down and making it an enjoyable day for all in the Society.
