North Kerry Make Over Challenge Week 1: This week our contestants have been attending workshops on nutrition from local nutritionist Maxine Brown and breathing from Eoin Burns along with interval training, mct, some light cardio exercise and the Sunday challenge Spinning.

PROJECTS: County Finals of Community Games Projects took place on Friday evening last in KDYS hall, Denny Street, Traleeand Listowel was represented by an U.11 team. Their topic was "The Greatest Invention of all Time". The team was just made up of 2 boys Killian Rodriquez and Eoin Enright. They put on an outstanding display and achieved a very creditable 4th place. Well done boys.
SWIMMING: County Finals of Community Games Swimming took place in Tralee Sports Complex on Monday last 18th March. Listowel was represented by an extremely talented swimming group and the following results will show how talented they really are. We will begin with the U.16 relay Medley - This outstanding team of Daniel Sheehan, Caomhán Daly, Wayne McGrath and Jack Grace have made history for swimming in Listowel when they won the U.16 medley and for 3 previous years have won the U.13 relay competition - very rarely, if ever, do you have the same team winning swimming competitions 4 years in a row. Daniel started with 2 length backstroke, Next Caomhán 2 length breaststroke, Wayne 2 length butterfly and Jack 2 length freestyle.
GOLD MEDALS also went to Wayne McGrath in Boys U 16 Butterfly; Caomhán Daly U.14 Breaststroke; Jack Grace U.16 Freestyle; Special Swim Hannah Grace;
SILVER MEDALS went to Daniel Sheehan U.14 Backstroke; Sadbh Daly U.12 Backstroke
BRONZE MEDAL for Eoghan Daly Boys U.10 Backstroke.
Other Listowel swimmers who swam brilliantly on the day were Oliver Kelly, Stephen Cunnane, Andreas Rodriquez, Tom Harte, Billy Melvin and Ellie Cunnane.
While they didn't achieve placings they can be really proud of their performances. Congratulations to all above competitors and we would like to wish thegold medal winners all the best in the National Finals in Athlone.

The county indoor championships were held in Listowel at the weekend. There was a great turn-out, Lios Tuathail had in the region of 50 athletes competing in all events. Many medals were won and everyone had a good day.Congratulations to all who took part. Thank you to the staff in the community center who were great. In addition to the indoor County's the all-Ireland indoor Championships were also taking place at the new stadium in Athlone, we had 5 athletes competing, Congratulations to Rachael Moriarty who ran a personal best and brought home a bronze medal and also to Michael Foley who won silver in a great race. Well done to Sophie Lynch, Jason Foley and Siobhan Donegan who also took part.

The season has started again with the u12s out first, they have three games played with two wins, against Ballymac and Beale but lost out to a stronger Finuge team. Our team is young but not lacking in spirit so keep it up. Games coming up this week are against Duagh and Castlegregory. The u16s were away last week to Beale and ended with a good game and a good win.

Sympathy is extended to the Kiely family of Aughrim on the loss of their daughter and sister, Noirin whose death and funeral took place recently in London. She is survived by her mother Madge, sisters, brothers and extended family. The death took place suddenly of Carol Ann Flahavan of Moyvane North and England. Ann and her husband Chris moved to Moyvane, and although they were only resident here for a short time they became active members of the community and were involved in organisations such as the ICA and the Development Association. Sympathy is extended to her husband Chris, son, daughter and grandchildren. Following requiem Mass in The Church of the Assumption, Moyvane, Ann Flahavan was laid to rest in Ahavoher.
