LISTOWEL COMMUNITY GAMES: County Finals of Group and Solo Music took place on Saturday night last in Abbeydorney. Listowel was represented by an outstanding young group of Musicians under the excellent coaching skills of Katie Lucy - who herself not too many years ago was a competitor in Community Games. It is so nice to see young people coming back to help coach and we really thank you for that Katie.
The Listowel Group were amazing on the night and managed to secure the top spot for their efforts. This is a wonderful start for Listowel Community Games 2013. Gold medal at County and now heading for the All-Ireland competition which will take place in Athlone the end of May.
Achieving gold in Community Games Music is a fantastic achievement as there is huge competition in this event. 2nd place Lixnaw, 3rd Ballydonoghue, 4th Ballybunion.
The Listowel team were Máiréad Brosnan, Keyboard; Aishling Keane, Accordion; Edel Quinn, Flute; Darragh Mackessy, Banjo and Méabh Trench, Concertina.
CONGRATULATIONS to all five team members and their wonderful Coach Katie Lucey. SOLO MUSIC Darragh Mackessy also performed in the Solo Music Competition playing his banjo with great excellence. However, Darragh unfortunately didn't get into the placings this year but he can certainly be very proud of his performance.
