IF you fancy taking a trip back to the '80s for a night of nostalgia and fun, then the staff at Tesco Abbeyfeale may have just what you're looking for!
The fundraising committee there have joined up with local DJ James Kennedy to host an '80s disco to raise funds for Aware - their selected charity for 2012 and 2013.
The fundraiser takes place on Saturday, October 19, at Fr Casey's GAA clubhouse and organisers are urging guests to don their leg warmers, shoulder pads and luminous layers to get into the spirit of the night.
Breda Scanlon, who is organising the event with her colleagues, says the group has been hosting a number of events to raise funds for Aware - the nationwide charity which assists those directly with depression - and is calling on locals to get behind their latest effort.
"We've been getting great support from the people of west Limerick and north Kerry and we're hoping they'll come out and support us again for this event," Breda said. "Entry on the night is just €5 and we'll have lots of spot prizes and there will also be a prize for the best dressed person on the night."
Meanwhile, the Tesco Abbeyfeale group will also be supporting Aware's national fundraising weekend from September 26 to 28, and are asking people to give generously in the store and out and about on the streets of Abbeyfeale.
