In times past Mike Courtney of Tooreenard has led St Patrick the 17th of March parade not alone in Knocknagoshel but elsewhere. Well on Tuesday of last week he again rallied to the call and was foremost in a large group of locals who travelled up to Dublin for the mass farmers demonstration outside Dail Eireann. The Knocknagoshel contingent numbered forty odd with all enjoying the day off the usual chores at home.
The St Kieran's district side came a cropper on Sunday last at Austin Stack Park when they lost to Dingle in the County Championship Semi-final. Leaking goals at various stages of the game destroyed any chance the Saints had of overhauling the men of the west . Sympathy is extended to the relatives of Mary O'Connor nee Moynihan, Killarney and formerly of Ahaneboy. Locals Gaels were saddened at the death in Newcastlewest last week of Pat Ahern the former Kerry footballer. A native of Ballymacelligott, Pat was a member of the Ballymac team that defeated Knocknagoshel in the Castleisland District League Final of 1969.
