Kitty celebrates 100th birthday

THIS Christmas will be a landmark event for Kitty Lenihan.

Kitty from Abbeydorney celebrated her 100th birthday on December 1 with a party in Tralee's Meadowlands hotel and is looking forward to spending her 101st Christmas at home with family and friends.

Born in 1913, one of Kitty's earliest memories is of the Black and Tans burning down the national school she attended in Ardrahan.

Kitty went on to study radio and communications in Limerick where she worked until she married her late husband Ned 1934. Kitty and Ned, who passed away in 1981, enjoyed a long and happy life together enjoying many trips around the world including visits to the Holy Land, Lourdes, Fatima and the USA.
