NEW YEAR GREETINGS: Hope all the readers of the Kilmoyley notes at home and abroad have a Very Happy and Healthy 2013. Thanks to everyone who submitted notes for the page and I am looking forward to your continued support for the year ahead.
COMMUNITY CARE LOTTO:
The results of the draw held before Christmas on 17th December. Numbers drawn were 15,20,23,24. Numbers were drawn by TJ Maunsell. There was no jackpot winner of €2,700. Two €50 winners were Ann M McCarthy, Sackville and Tom Carroll, Snipefield. There was also a draw for six €50 Meat Vouchers for Tim Master Butchers, Lerrig. Winners were - Daly Family, Rathanny. Bernard Newman, T/bane. A Pardoe, Ballymacquinn. Mary Maunsell, Lerrig. J Williams, Fenit. Philip Maunsell, Lerrig. The Community Care Committee would like to wish everyone a Very Happy and Peaceful New Year and thank all those who help out in any way towards the Centre including the ticket sellers who go around each week selling tickets for the Lotto.
Congratulations to Shane Brick, Kilmoyley and Grainne McCarthy, Cork who got married in Killarney recently and held their reception at the Malton Hotel. Wishing you many years of Health and Happiness.
The Death took place during the week of Patrick Pat McCarthy, 23 St John's Park, Castleisland and formerly of Lerrig. His remains were removed from Tagney's Funeral Home on Wednesday evening to Castleisland Parish Church. Burial took place on Thursday the 27th December to the New Cemetery, Ardfert. Sympathy is extended to his family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
TIDY TOWNS FUND RAISER
There was marvelous support and a wonderful festive atmosphere at the Lerrig Lough Splash hosted by Kilmoyley Tidy Towns on Christmas morning. Well done to all the sporting participants who braved the elements and went for a dip in Lerrig Lough. Thank you to Tom Meehan, Angela Meehan, Bernie Meehan and Denis Foley for providing refreshments for all present and to Mary Brassil for her help.
Kilmoyley Tidy Towns are grateful to everyone for making this community event a success-Ní neart go cur le chéile!" It was also a great treat to have Santa present at the event. Go mbeirimid beo ag an am seo arís.
KILMOYLEY NATIONAL SCHOOL NEWS:
NATIONAL TREE COUNCIL OF IRELAND - Congratulations to the boys and girls in First Class, Scoil Naomh Eirc on winning a prize for their story "What the Elm tree saw" in a story writing competition promoted by the National Tree Council of Ireland. The boys and girls in First Class enjoyed an exhilarating walk through the fields as they embarked on a nature walk from the school to Tearmon Eirc, Lerrig. The excursion would not have been possible without the co-operation and hospitality of the Gaynor Family for which the school is very grateful. Go méadaí Dia bhur stór.
SCHOOL HURLING FINAL
To celebrate the day of the Christmas Holidays a very exciting, sporting and closely contested Hurling League Final ably and skillfully refereed by Peter Crowe took place at the school on Friday 21st December. The work of hurling coaches Declan Lovett, John Martin Brick and Maurice Leahy was very evident in the skills and proficiency displayed by the children. The cup was presented to winning captain Ciarán Monahan by school Principal Mrs. Áine Crowe.

GOLF SOCIETY SOCIAL
