KILLARNEY Plastics have continued their expansion with the launch of an innovative new product.

The company, in conjunction with partners O'Mahony Consulting Engineers launched their new product, the Sandcel, in Killarney last week. The launch event was attended by members of the panel of site assessors for Kerry County Council.

Sandcel is a sand polishing filter system which suits most soil conditions. It is used after a wastewater treatment system to further treat and dispose the effluent from domestic buildings and requires a small footprint which makes it an ideal solution for difficult and compact sites.

Sandcel has been well received by county councils and it has already been approved for use and tested in several dwellings around country.

"We are delighted with the initial sales and feedback from our Sandcel sand polishing filter system" said sales manager James Butler.

O'Mahony Consulting Engineers will offer delivery, installation, commissioning and certification that ensures that the homeowner is complying with all EU and Irish law.

The last 12 months have been most successful for Killarney Plastics.

The company, which is part of the Killarney Manufacturing Group, was granted a license from the French government for their Tricel wastewater treatment systems in France in 2011.

The result of this was the opening of a new assembly and distribution centre in Poitiers, France. The company also received European certification for their super low profile septic tank and wastewater treatment systems. To cope with increased demand for their Tricel range the company has also increased their workforce by 20 in the last year.
