Kerry Volunteer Centre values volunteering. We are committed to encouraging, supporting and enabling people to volunteer. We provide a suite of services to both individuals and voluntary and community groups throughout the county of Kerry so that volunteering is a positive and recommendable experience.
Principles of Volunteering Whilst there is no agreed upon defiinition of volunteering there are some common principles that constuitute what volunteering is. Essentially that Volunteering is always a matter of choice, a unpaid activity that benefits the community and the volunteer. It is a powerful and legitimate way in which we as citizens can participate in the activities of our community and country. Volunteering is an activity performed in the not for profit sector only and should never be a substitute for paid work or replace paid workers nor constitute a threat to the job security of paid workers. Volunteering should be a positive, worthwhile and meaningful activity. In Kerry Volunteer Centre we support and enable people to volunteer, they decide when, where and how often it suits them to volunteer.
