Islamic society to raise funds for Enable Ireland

Dr Rizwan Kahn, chairman of Kerry Islamic Society, and Sean Scally of Enable Ireland Kerry launch the Islamic Cultural Exhibition which will be held on August 24, at the Brandon Hotel, Tralee.

THE newly established Kerry Islamic Outreach Society is holding a cultural exhibition at the Brandon Hotel next Saturday with all proceeds from the event going to Enable Ireland Kerry Services.

The aim of the event is provide people in Kerry with proper information on the religion and to end some of the misconceptions that surround Islam.

"There will be short discussion forums where people will be able to discuss and ask questions about Islam and Muslims," said KIOS Chairman Dr Rizwan Kahn.

"The event is an opportunity to see what Islam and Muslims are about. The exhibition will be complete with information, history, artifacts and literature about Islam and Muslims," said Dr Khan.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Enable Ireland Kerry Services.

Enable Ireland provide a range of supports and services to children and adults with physical disabilities in Kerry. At present the charity have 168 children and 63 adults availing of their services across the county. All services are provided free of charge.
