Hospice hopes for €20k boost from coffee morning
KERRY Hospice Foundation expects to receive well over €20,000 from over 90 separate coffee mornings that were held in aid of the charity in Tralee last week.
Businesses and homes all over Tralee became improvised cafes on Thursday morning as part of the nationwide coffee morning hospice fundraiser which is sponsored by Bewleys and is now in its 21st year.
While the event is national money raised in each county stays in that county and goes to its local hospice foundation. All money raised in Kerry will go towards Kerry Hospice Foundation's planned in patient palliative care unit at Kerry General Hospital.
Kerry Hospice Foundation Chiarman said that while a final tally won;t be known for a number of weeks this year's coffee mornings in Tralee were on track to at match the €24,000 raised last year.
The 2012 coffee morning raised €50,000 in Kerry and Ted also expects this year's figure will be similar.
"It went very well and were pleased with it. The coffee morning is a great money spinner for us and it's one of our biggest fundraising events every year. We raised €24,000 in Tralee last year and while we won't have a final figure for a while it's looking similar so far," he said.
