KILLARNEY Valley Vintage Club presented an impressive €3,200 cheque to the Kerry Cork Health Link last week, proceeds of a sponsored walk held on December 29.

Despite torrential rain, over 100 walkers turned up for the club's first major fundraising event. The club has thanked all who sponsored the walkers, along with Killarney School of Music and The Travel Inn for providing the evening entertainment and James Carolan of Nobber Vintage Club for providing back-up support. Seán Prendergast of the Kerry Cancer Support Group also thanked all who supported the event in any way.

"We are very grateful and appreciative of the support and goodwill provided by Killarney Valley Vintage Club and this generous donation helps us make the cancer journey for Kerry patients easier," Seán said.

"Funds raised means that Kerry Cancer Support Group can continue to provide and improve on our current services for the people of Kerry. In 2014 we estimate that we will fulfil over 3,500 appointments for both adults and children and this figure is set to increase in coming years."

The club is now looking forward to a Charity Drive on April 6 and all vintage, classic and retro cars and tractors are welcome to come along and support the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus. Check out www.killarneyvintage.com or Facebook page for more information.
