Garvey's staff get growing for 'Movember'

BEFORE you start thinking that the staff at Garvey's Supervalu are starting to let themselves go a little, manager Alan O'Connor has been in touch to explain that the unshaven faces around the store are those taking part in this year's Movember fundraiser.

Keen to show their support for the Listowel Hospice, 10 staff members - including Alan - are growing beards for the month of November, in the hope of raising as much funds as possible for the local charity. The men are asking people to donate to the worthy cause by either sponsoring them directly or donating to the collection buckets at the checkouts.

On Saturday, December 1, five of the men will get their beards shaven off in the store, while later that night the other five will be de-bearded at a fun event in The Saddle Bar.

"We're just hoping to raise as much money as we can for the Hospice and are hoping to make a day and night out of it on December 1," Alan explained. "Anyone interested in supporting us can donate in the store or by sponsoring the participants."
