FOSSA Active Retired: Active Retirement Ireland is a national organisation catering for everybody 55 years and over. We now have our own branch here in Fossa.
Currently, we have a number of weekly activities which include indoor bowls, a walking group and pitch & putt. We intend to add further activities in the near future. As part of the Bealtaine Festival celebrating creativity as we age, a film screening of the comedy *The Sapphires* starring Chris O'Dowd will take place on Thursday May 23rd at 3pm . Admission is free.
Book Sale: In order to make way for new book stock, Killarney Library is currently holding a sale of a selection of books until the end of May during library opening hours. A broad range of material will be available at a minimal cost. Paperbacks and children's books are €1 and other books €2.

COMANE LAY BY'S
Local Councillor Michael Cahill has allocated €2195 from his County Councillors allocation towards the cost of provision of lay by's at Comane, Glenbeigh in vicinity of Blessed Well. This is the total estimated cost of undertaking this work.
The area engineer has been instructed to have work carried out in the current year.

Iasc Og preschool Cromane will be holding a 5k/10k Fun Run at
the preschool Lake Road Cromane on Saturday 8th June. All runners, joggers, walkers and families welcome.
The Fun Run will start at 10am
All participants to complete the circuit by 1pm. €10 per adult and €15 for families.
N.S. Parents Association: Well done to the boys and girls from the school that took part in Super Slam Basketball Tournament held in Killarney over the last few weeks. The girls reached the Plate final against Holy Cross Mercy and were only narrowly beaten. The boys got to the Shield final against Knocknagree which they won.
Well done to all the past pupils from the school that were playing Basketball in the All Irelands with Scoil Phobail Slliabh Luachra last week.
RAHEEN NATIONAL SCHOOL: Over the past week the children have been enjoying a book fair in the school hall and have had the opportunity to read and buy a variety of well-known books. The two-teacher Credit Union Football Competition is currently underway in the area. Congratulations to Michael O' Keefee who had the winning lotto number 30 on Saturday 11th May.
This year's GAA Cúl Camp will take place in Glenflesk from 8th - 12th July. Primary schools in the parish should have received application forms at this stage. Congratulations to Darragh Lynch and Kevin Moynihan, Glenflesk for reaching the final of this year's Young Entrepreneur Programme which was held in the Malton Hotel on Thursday May 9th. They developed a smart phone app called 'Smart Breath', whose features include a unit counter, blood alcohol content calculator and reaction test game along with a mini breathalyser that can be attached to a smart phone.

Exhibition of Art in Keel As part of the Keel Gathering we are organizing a 2 day exhibition of local artwork - all types - at Keel Community Centre. This event will feature an art exhibit with opportunity to sell, art workshops and a competition for schools. The exhibition will open on Saturday May 25th at noon and will be officially be launched by a Marina Carr, well known playwright on Saturday evening at a reception with wine/cheese and music. We aim to achieve a broad and diverse attendance by offering this art event at no cost to the general public. We seek to bring together a range of artists and craftspeople in the celebration of accessible, affordable art and craftÄpainting in all mediums, pen & ink, charcoal, pastel, photographs, sculptures, stone masonry, light, pottery, ceramics, glass.

GREEN HOMES PROGRAMME. A presentation will be given by Susan Vickers of Green Homes Programme at Old Railway Station, Kells on Monday May 27th at 8pm. This presentation will focus on practical ways that households in the area can reduce energy and water waste etc.Large savings can be made by following a programme such as this.
