SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE: Finuge had an impressive home victory against highly rated Kenmare in Round 10 which was played in ideal conditions on Saturday evening. In a very sporting game the visitors gained the initiative in the early stages with a goal by Stephen O'Brien. However by the 15th minute Finuge were on level terms 0-6 to 1-3 and the decisive score of the game came in the 21st minute when Stephen Power fisted a high ball from Fergus Fitzmaurice to the net. Finuge were on top at midfield and had a comfortable half time lead of 1-11 to 1-5 . Stephen O' Brien moved out the field in the second half and Kenmare spent most of the half on the attack. Their forwards however found it difficult to breach a well organised disciplined Finuge defence. With Eamonn Fitzmaurice moving out from full forward the Finuge ship was steadied and two fine points by centre back Pat Corridan sealed the victory, 1-13 to 1-9. Finuge now has 8 League points. One point from the remaining two games at home to An Ghaeltacht and Tarbert will ensure that Division 2 status will be maintained.
