(Pending). Wow, what a turn out - in spite of the weather, over 150 people, some complete novices, took to the water in the One Design Coastal Rowing boats in Fenit on Sunday, September 9th. Supported fully by Cromane, Callinafercy, Killorglin and, indeed, Ballyheigue Coastal Rowing Clubs, who provided the boats and the expertise, the day was an outstanding success.
A big "Thank You" to all who gave their time and energy on the day, and a special thanks to Mary B.Teehan, the PRO for the Irish Coastal Rowing Federation, who participated fully from early morning until the last person left late that evening.
All ages were catered for, from under 12's to the over 50's, male and female.
If we are to take yesterday, as a sign of the demand for a rowing club in Fenit, and the numbers of people who left their contact details with us, we expect to have no problem getting a club up and running immediately. To this end, we need your involvement. We need organisers, coaches and rowers, who are as committed and enthusiastic as those who turned up on Sunday.
Due to the weather as well as the overwhelming interest on the day, we did not get the contact details of all interested. If interested in getting involved in any way, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your contact details, level and area of interest, or text to 087.2600066.
Without your involvement, this club will not happen! Now is the time to stand up and be counted...
