IF you fancy showing off your precious pooch while supporting one of Abbeyfeale's most treasured amenities at the same time, then be sure be in the town park this Sunday, May 19, for the annual fundraising dog show.

Kicking off at 1pm, the event is one of the few means of funding the maintenance of the popular park that has been in existence since 1983 and boasts a fantastic array of plants and wildlife, including a beautiful duck pond and crannog.

There are lots categories to enter, including the biggest and smallest dog, best child handler (U14) and a very novel category - the dog the judges would most like to take home. Entry is only €2 per category and organisers promise a great family day out with lots of raffle prizes, snacks and treats.

"Huge credit is due to the original committee members and to the people of Abbeyfeale and beyond for their continued support and commitment over the years and," said joint organiser Breda O'Grady.
