MARATHON: Two and a half thousand runners took part in the Dingle marathon last Saturday in favourable weather. For the second year in succession John Meade of Cork won the half marathon in a time of one hour fourteen minutes and thirty-eight seconds. Jillian Cotter was the first lady home in a time of one hour thirty-one minutes and forty two seconds. The full marathon was won by Eoin O'Siochru from Cork in a time of two hours forty eight minutes and eighteen seconds. The first lady to cross the line was Nora Barry in a time of three hours twenty two minutes and twenty-nine seconds. The ultra marathon (50 miles) was won by Keith Whyte, 75 seconds under six hours. Amy Masner won the ladies section in seven hours thirty six minutes and 33 seconds.
