GIVEN the precarious state of the building and construction sector across the entire county, it's reassuring to see one Kerry business is still thriving in what has become a difficult marketplace thanks to its innovative approach to business.

Ourhouse.ie, which is based at the Ballycasheen Road in Killarney just off the main Killarney Cork road, was founded in mid 2011 by Donie O'Sullivan and Brian Kelliher and offers customers a one stop shop where they can avail of the services of over 30 individual company's engaged in the construction sector under one roof.

Given the continued success and popularity of weekend trade shows and home and garden events, where companies set up their stall and advertise their wares for one or two days at a time, Donie O'Sullivan's concept was to open what is effectively a permanent trade show where the public can meet such companies and providers every day of the year, without travelling over and back across Munster, and all under one roof.

The Ourhouse.ie centre opened it's doors in October 2011 and now has over 30 companies, ranging from floor and tiling firms to roofing, bathroom and window providers, exhibiting in the building every day.

With only one company from each sector represented, either by their own staff or by Ourhouse.ie's four strong full time team in the warehouse, the idea is that customers can, after making just one trip, meet with the best companies in each sector and organise practically any home renovation or extension project, large or small.

Ourhouse.ie, which offers companies exhibition space at low rates, also offers traders who may not otherwise be able to afford a dedicated shop or business premises with a busy space where the can exhibit their product and service.

Brian Kelliher said that in the year and half the business has been open the concept has proved very popular with the public and businesses alike.

"It's a simple idea, basically a permanent alternative to weekend self build trade shows, but it has proved very popular. It's a difficult time for everybody in the construction sector and everyone has challenges to meet but the concept here has proved very successful," he said.

"Basically we offer customers a one stop shop for all building and renovation needs, whether large or small, where customers can park up, come in and organise all they need and arrange and entire project without travelling all over Kerry and Munster to various small offices."

If you're interested in exhibiting a business at the centre you can contact Ourhouse.ie at 064 6670007.
