THE Irish Cancer Society is to benefit to the tune of over €4,000 thanks to a hugely successful fundriaising Shave or Dye event at An Tóchar Bán in Kilmoyley on Saturday night.
Organised by Kilmoyley Macra, the event saw over 40 brave men and women weither dye their locks or go the whole hog and shave their head, all in the name of charity.
With a target of €2,000 before the event, organisers were overwhelmed with the response by locals, and paid tribute to everyone who helped double their initial target on the night.
"It was a fantastic night and we were delighted with the outcome, as we raised over €4,000," John Collins of Kilmoyley Macra said. "Twenty five had signed up, but on the night we had over 40 taking part."
John also thanked the local ladies who oversaw the shaving and colouring, namely Sara Halloran, Aoife Griffin, Claire Godley, Michelle Leen and Aine Brassil, management at An Tohcar Ban for the use of the venue and those who gave spot prizes.
