' THIRTY-EIGHT Shades of Listowel' will be launched in the Horseshoe Bar on Saturday, September 15, the day before the Listowel Races 2012 get underway.
The saucy calendar features a variety of Listowel men in various states of undress.
Mirth aside, it is for a very important cause as all the proceeds will go to five local rescue units that played a key role in the search for the late John Lynch.
Family members of Mr Lynch are among the organisers who hope to see great support for the calendar in north Kerry; a given, surely, with its racy content.
One month provides great incentive however as it shows the naked behinds of three Kerry players, past and present. To find out who they might be, however, you'll have to get your hands on a copy.
The charities supported by the sales of the calendar are the Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue, Mallow Search and Rescue, Fenit Search and Rescue, the Abbeyfeale District Search and Rescue and the Killarney Inshore Rescue.
"It's for a great cause and we're really looking forward to the launch night now," organiser Ruth Sheehy said. "These are hugely important charities each of which played a key role in the search operation and we hope for the support of everyone," Ruth added.
38 Shades of Listowel - playing on the title of recent steamy bestseller 50 Shades of Grey - will cost €10 and will be available from the late John Lynch's Freezer's Bakery and café and from a handful of other shops in town.
