THE residents of Boherbee enjoyed a special pre-parade celebration on Saturday evening.

WIth the parade starting at the Eastern end of Boherbee local residents decided to host a street party to get the night's festivities off to a great start.

A similar street party, though on a much smaller scale, took place in the area ahead of the parade last year and it proved such a success that the organisers decided to host an even bigger bash this year.

A huge array of food, made by the area's many skilled chefs and cooks, was laid on for guests while local performers, who were joined by the Letterkenny Senior Accordion Band, kept the crowds entertained as they waited for the parade to get underway.

Well over 100 residents come out to enjoy the party which was sponsored by local businesses and continued during and after the parade and lasting well into the evening.

The Rose of Tralee Street Carnival organisers even agreed to close the street to traffic a few hours earlier than usual so the local community could enjoy some extra space as they celebrated the occasion.
