THE Limerick branch of Cystic Fibrosis charity, TLC4CF have been in touch to say a massive thank you to the people of West Limerick who have contributed significantly to their fundraising efforts over the summer months.
According to committee member Theresa O'Kelly, the Foynes 5K run/4K walk which took place on Sunday, June 2, raised approximately €3,000 - including the sale of 700 TLC4CF cookbooks
The Tournafulla 5K run,which attracted hundreds to the village on Easter Sunday raised an additional €3,000, while the largest fundraiser of the summer - The Adare Golf Classic on June 7 - raised in excess of €10,000.
Meanwhile, the Mungret St Paul's 10k fun run/walk in May raised an additional €1,500, while a picnic at the Mustard Seed Restaurant in Ballingarry raised €800.
All the money raised through local fundraising will go towards the construction of a dedicated adult CF unit on the grounds of the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick. The building is currently under construction and is due for completion in October 2014.
