A DAY of ' pure beauty' reaped dividends in Dingle as two beauticians donated a day's takings to the Kerry Hospice Foundation following a unique fund-raising drive.

Elaine Higgins and Melanie Brosnan of 'Pure Beauty' donated the money they earned at their Main Street beauty salon on Saturday October 20. It was a busy day in the office for the pair who managed to raise in excess of €1,500 for Kerry Hospice Foundation.

According to Elaine and Melanie, the response from local people was amazing and they filled their appointments book with treatments from 9am to 6pm that day.

"Along with coming in for treatments, people were also dropping in all day with donations – some people put as much as €50 into the bucket," said Melanie.

"We want to thank everyone for getting behind the cause and also those who donated raffle prizes. Iit was a great day and we hope to do something similar next year" Elaine added.

Elaine and Melanie presented a cheque for €1,558 to Kerry Hospice Foundation last week at Pure Beauty. Ursula O'Connell, who accepted the cheque, thanked the young business women for their amazing generosity in donating a day's takings to KHF, "especially in these tough times".
