Ballylongford Youth Club A.G.M. meeting Monday 24th of Sept at 8.00pm in the G.A.A. hall. All parents are asked to attend regarding the future of the youth club.
Sincere Birthday greetings are extended to Bridget Deegan of Carrigafoyle who on Monday week last (September 10th) celebrated her 90th Birthday. Born in Gullane, Ballybunion in 1922 Bridget Higgins attended the local school and after her education she met the love of her life the late Michael Deegans R.I.P. who she married and moved to Ballylongford in 1954. Her late husband was employed at O' Sullivan's back then. Blessed with a family of three boys and a girl (Joe, Maura, Michael and Patrick) all lived happily at Carrigafoyle and it is also nice to see that in these later years her family have all set up homes with their own families in close proximity to the family home, all with the exception of Maura who is nursing in England. Her family pulled out all the stops as they organised a big bash for Bridget's big birthday as family and neighbours gathered at the family home on Saturday evening last for a special mass celebrated by our new P.P. Rev. Fr Padraig Kennelly. That was followed by a fabulous meal at the Marine Links Hotel in Ballybunion and followed by lively music, song and dance into the early hours. Family & relatives came from far and wide, her daughter Maura arriving from London along with her sister Nell and her two nephews John and Mike also arriving from London. Bridget's nieces Jean and Mary and their families made it from Canada. Also enjoying the occasion was her brother Pats and her seven nieces, nine nephews, fourteen grandnieces/nephews, eight grandchildren, and one grand niece. No doubt Bridget has seen many changes over the years, both locally and nationally and we wish her many, many, more years of health and happiness.
A practically new bicycle was found recently in the vicinity of Kilcolgan area. This bicycle seemed to have been dropped off after being taken from some other area considering that it was found in an isolated part of this townland.
