NEW CEMETERY: It is now eight months since we were assured that development of the grounds purchased by Kerry County Council for a new Cemetery would begin last January. Eight months on and there is still no sign of this much needed development which is a disgrace, as late as this week local families were again seeking graves in Lislaughtin or in Aghavallen, as a resting place for their loved ones but there are no plots to be purchased in either. The sad reality now is, that if local families require a family plot to bury their loved ones, the nearest available plots are at St Mary's in Tarbert, St John's in Ballybunion, Gale Cemetery or Pope John Paul II cemetery in Listowel.
We would like to congratulate Timmy Flaherty on coming first on the Mandolin at the All Ireland in Cavan recently.

A large crowd attended Carrigafoyle Castle on Friday evening last August 24th for a special evening of song and history which was held on the ground floor of this 15th Century building.
In the last week the community was once again saddened and shocked on the learning of the passing of two of our parishioners. On Monday August 20th last the sad news of the passing of Ivo Bennett R.I.P. of Tulahinell South and formally of Northampton, England was received with sadness. Sam as he was most fondly known was a very quiet gentleman who lived happily in Tullahinell for many years with his wife and family to whom we offer our deepest sympathies. Sam's remains were removed from Lynch's Funeral home on Tuesday evening last to St Mary's Church Asdee with requiem mass on Wednesday morning followed by interment in Lislaughtin Abbey. On Friday last August 24th the news of the passing of Bridie O'Sullivan R.I.P. of Aras Mhuire Nursing Home and formally of Lenamore was greeted with sadness. In her 92nd year Bridie had been resident in Aras Mhuire Nursing home in Listowel for the past decade where she was a very popular and much loved resident by both staff and fellow residents. But prior to that she worked hard all of her life on the family farm in Lenamore with her late brother Paddy or as he was more affectionately known as Paud R.I.P. Bridie's remains were removed from Lynch's funeral home on Sunday evening last to St Michael's Church Ballylongford requiem mass took place on Monday at 11.30am with interment afterwards in Lislaughtin Abbey. To her sister Josie in New York, her brother in law, nieces, nephews, family relatives and wide circle of friends we extend our deepest sympathy. Sympathy is also extended to Eileen Lynch Well Street, Thomas Curtin Rusheen, Patsy Curtin Listowel and their families on the passing of their Uncle Patrick (Paddy) Curtin R.I.P. of Old Road, Silvermines, Nenagh. Co. Tipperary who died on Thursday August 23rd last. May the light of heaven shine on their souls.
