Ballydonoghue Community games Athletics team had their most successful weekend ever at the National Finals in Athlone. In glorious sunshine we witnessed a fantastic performance by a very promising young athlete in Miceál Foley winning the boys U14 800M. This was followed up by our U15 mixed relay team of Kieran Lynch, Miceál Foley, Melissa Lynch and Collette Foley winning the gold very impressively. Not to be outdone, our U14 Girls Relay team were a brilliant second to a very strong Wexford team. The six-strong team, who all ran at different stages of the competition were as follows, Aoife Mahony, Maria O'Neill, Ciara Donegan, Sophie Lynch, Alex Dowling and Niamh Cullen. There was also a superb performance by Jason Foley in reaching the final of the Boys U16 100M. The success of the athletes was due to their hard work and dedication during training over the summer months under the tutelage of Margaret O'Neill, Denis Lynch, John Bunyan and Brendan Cullen. We would like to congratulate all the Ballydonoghue competitors who competed in our area competitions and at county and national levels.
Classes starts back on Saturday 15th September in Ballydonoghue GAA clubrooms Coolard with the Music Classes starting in Lisselton School after the Listowel Races.
